about

New Brunswick percussionist and producer Bob Deveau has been creating electronic music and performing under the moniker Senior Citizen for the past ten years.

In 2009, Deveau began recording drum tracks as a base for new electronic compositions out of his parent's barn in his hometown of Port Hawkesbury, Nova Scotia. These tracks were then built upon in the computer and passed onto several vocalists and instrumentalists from around Atlantic Canada for contributions. Seven years later, the final result is a stunning collection of electronic music and a truly collaborative record with over 11 different side musicians offering vocals, guitars, keyboards, and lap steel on top of many layers of percussion and electronics.

Track Name: Better Off Alone (feat. Andrew Sisk)
Tried to think of things to say
Tried to get her on her own
Tried to think of ways to say
She'd be better off alone

It's not your place, it's not your party
Some things are better left unsaid
If she left him you'd be sorry
if it wasn't you instead

You've been watching, you've been waiting
been consoling on the phone
you were there when he left her
you would hold her like your own

think about how it would happen
what the circumstance would be
You can picture you both laughing
about how she didn't see this

Tried to think of things to say
Tried to get her on her own
Tried to think of ways to say
She'd be better off alone
Track Name: So Close (feat. Erin Breau)
Couldn’t think of what to say
Couldn’t say what he might think
so I did it anyway
I guess I could’ve walked away

It’s how he looked at me
so I could plainly see
so long and pleasurely
I could almost feel his hands on me

I’m so close now
so close now

I’m so close now
so close now

So close
So close now

Wanna go out on the town
pretty people all around
swallowed all up in the sound
I’m on the floor to get down

Cause tonight I couldn’t sleep
gotta find some of them good beats
I’m a little honey bee
I can feel him watchin’ me

Wanna take this night to play
wanna dance the night away
not a word I’ll have to say
I’ll just let my hips sway

I’m so close now
So close now

I’m so close now
So close now

So close
So close
Track Name: Wild Fires (feat. Caleb Crandall)
What's going to get in the way
The only question that matters to me is
When it comes to the end of the day
Where is this all going to be
Will the structure just buckle under
The weight of it's own intentions
And in the end when it's all remembered
What are they all going to mention?
Will it be worth the wait
When the days go strange
Will we adapt to the change
Or will the gamble all just turn sour
And will the progress all just seem useless
When compared to the bare essentials
Will we wonder why we acted this way
Will it be worth all the change
These wild fires burn too bright
For me to stare into for too long
And these wild fires burn too late
For me to stay awake
For too long
Track Name: Not The Same (feat. Dan Andrews)
Why would you say if I called you up on the telephone?
Why would you say if I called you up on the telephone?
Why would you say if I called you up on the telephone?
Would I hear your voice, or would I hear a dial tone?

What would you do running into me on the street?
What would you do running into me on the street?
What would you do running into me on the street?
Would you walk on by, or would our eyes meet?

What would you say if I told you that I was not the same?
What would you say if I told you that I was not the same?
What would you say if I told you that I was not the same?
I wonder these things every single day.
Track Name: Footprints (feat. Nick Cobham)
I can't tell if I'm in shock or not
I don't know if I'll come out on top
I can see just how this will turn out
I won't float and I will try to shout

Footprints lead you to the riverbed
But you won't find me there
Track Name: Pull Me Down (feat. Erin Breau)
I know, I know
We’ve never seen eye to eye or screen to screen
It’s only mind to mind.

So when I saw you,
I couldn’t help but smile, I saw your eyes
I saw your eyes

I couldn’t hardly breathe
I’m pulling at your sleeve
I thought I knew you
I thought you might know me

Your name rolls off my teeth
and makes my tongue taste sweet my ears are ringing
my eyes are stinging and you

you knock me off my toes
those stones up in your nose
I thought I knew you
I thought I knew you

I know you don’t know me but I know you
I know you don’t see me but I see you
I know you don’t know
me but I know you, I know you I know you don’t see
me but I see you
Clearly

IseeyouIseeyouIseeyou

I see you in your pictures
It’s all in how you look away
I read aloud your scriptures
I love the way you say the things you say

It’s over now, it’s over
I feel the change that’s in the wind

September skies
so clear and wide
so open, so open

A time to begin
A space to fill in
the colden days will melt away
the sun will shine again

I hear you now
so clear and loud
I lay back on the ground
You pull me down

I know you don’t know
me but I know you

Track Name: Temporary Madness (feat. Matt Gillis & Erin Breau)
On the day I was born / I gave myself a face / and given a name / on the day I was born

Gave myself a face / and given a name / and taken away / on the day I was born.

I remember the noise / when I entered the room / the people, the faces, the places / and everything new to a boy / their new favourite toy / a bundle of joy.

A memory will last / but a moment too soon / I left without words / it burns, yes, but I still will carry on through / a part of what's you / one step behind two.

Temporary madness, temporary pain, temporary silence, all will remain. Temporary heartache, temporary shame, temporary measures, no ones to blame
